How Much Water Should Dogs Drink?

Most dogs should drink about 1 ounce of water for every pound that they weigh, every day. That means a 10-pound dog needs about two-thirds of a 16oz bottle of water daily. Really active pups or dogs who are pregnant or recently had puppies often need more water per pound of weight. Puppies typically drink more than adult dogs because their bodies are growing and they’re much more active. If your pup eats soft food, they may drink slightly less because they are getting more water content from their food.

A 10 lb dog needs 10 oz of water a day.

  • One of the easiest ways is to carry a portable dog water dispensing bottle. Many dog owners and dog lovers really like these bottles because they’re easy to use, convenient, and affordable.
    • Additionally, you can easily squeeze the water out of the bottle with just one hand, and once you release the squeeze, the H2O will automatically flow back into the bottle. Meaning, you won’t waste a single drop!
    • These bottles are lightweight and can be easily refilled when the water runs out. They also have an in-built bowl that allows your dog to drink without any hassle.
    • Most bottles are also safe for dogs because they are made from a food-safe and BPA-free plastic material. Plus, some have twist-and-lock features that make them spill-proof, so you can carry them without worrying about accidents.
